There's nothing like a stay at a lovely hotel for leaving you feel pampered, and the Bermondsey Square Hotel certainly does the trick on the pampering stakes. Placed within an easy walk of one of my favourie London attractions, the London Dungeon, this is a hotel that appeals to both hip travellers and corporate visitors looking for that little bit extra. We checked in around eight thirty on a Friday evening and the atmosphere in the bar was low key and relaxed. A perfect start to a chilled weekend. Our Superior Double Room was significantly larger than the double I had stayed at in a lovely Parisian hotel earlier in the year. And with a drench shower, hairdryer and Apple TV, we were tempted to just stay in and chill. But dinner called - a fantastic steak and glass of wine at Alfies, followed by cocktails at the bar. After the excellent service of the Friday night, our only disappointment was that service at breakfast so incredibly slow, and we weren't even told about the buffet option (hidden around the corner) where I could have had my preferred breakfast of croissants and cereal. Perhaps the waiters were still in chill out mode from the previous evening... Facilities on site include a terrace with 120 alfresco seats, two beauty treatment rooms and a members club, along with conference rooms, Wi-fi network and business centre. There are also roof-top suites complete with hot tubs (Sigh. we were hoping for one of those!!), and you can get preferntial rates at a local gym, if wokring out is more your thing. All in all a great stay. We'd recommend it for a few nights at most, and probably a better atmosphere for couples, singles or corporate guests rather than families. Rooms from £109. http://www.bermondseysquarehotel.co.uk/ |
