Born and educated in St Helens, Merseyside - near Liverpool in the UK - she moved south over twenty years ago. Following several disappointments in love, she now lives happily in Milton Keynes near London with her partner, Lovely Kev, who is living proof that romantic men do exist! Carole describes herself as a typical Gemini - daydreamer and realist - whose passions include cooking (more domestic disaster than goddess), Tai chi, dancing, rollerblading, cars, cycling, gardening and travel (particularly involving the words ‘basic’, ‘adventure’ and ‘wilderness’). In the last year she has travelled to Nepal, China, LA, New York and the North-West Pacific coast of America. She is an evening class-aholic; goes to the cinema at least once a week and follows Feng Shui and horoscopes when all else fails. She left school at eighteen and moved away from St Helens to work in London as a secretary. Then she retrained as a beauty therapist at the prestigious Champneys College in the UK and worked for Dickens & Jones as a therapist. She joined Central Television become a presenter on a daytime health and beauty programme called ‘Look Good, Feel Great’ with Rosemary Connolly of The Hip and Thigh Diet fame and Diana Moran, The Green Goddess, where she presented a slot on her specialist subject of aromatherapy. After this she wrote freelance articles for a number of magazines, mainly covering health and fitness. She started writing fiction in 1996 when she entered a short story competition in Writers’ News magazine and, much to her surprise, won! She spent the prize money on a week-long writing retreat with the intention of completing her first novel. The course tutor liked it so much she recommended an agent who took her on straight away. Her first book Let’s Meet on Platform 8 was sold to Headline and published in 1997. For Better, For Worse was her first novel to be published in the USA in 2002. Now Carole has eleven bestselling novels under her belt. She also has a monthly book and film review slot on BBC Three Counties Radio and is a regular radio guest - with frequent appearances on Radio Northampton and BBC Three Counties. In between all this, she also finds the time to write hugely entertaining novels and scripts for television and film. Carole has been working on a sitcom for the BBC with producer Gareth Gwenlan whose credits include Only Fools and Horses, Butterflies, To The Manor Born and Reggie Perrin. She also had a radio sitcom broadcast in January 2006, developed by the producers of Naked Video and Still Game. The film rights to For Better, For Worse and A Minor Indiscretion have been sold to Hollywood. She is currently developing A Compromising Position with the producer of Edward Scissorhands. In the UK she is published by Headline and in the USA by Red Dress Ink. Carole’s bestselling novels include Let’s Meet on Platform 8, A Whiff of Scandal (Scent of Scandal in the USA), More To Life Than This, For Better, For Worse, A Compromising Position (Bare Necessity in the USA), A Minor Indiscretion, The Sweetest Taboo, With or Without You, You Drive Me Crazy, Welcome To The Real World. The Chocolate Lovers Club was published in the UK in February 07. THE CHOCOLATE LOVERS' CLUB brings together four very different women with one thing in common: they can't resist chocolate. This is an irresistible novel for anyone who wishes they were a member! |
