| Felix Hockey, 13, looks at Darren Shan's Demonata series and why it is so popular. Darren Shan has just finished his second horror series for children. Darren Shan has written the million selling series called the saga of Darren Shan and the Demonata series which is nearly as popular. The Demonata The Demonata is another universe where demons live. But some demons want to cross to the human universe to cause terror and wipe the humans out all together. Only three people can stop this. Grubbs Grady, Kernel Fleck and Bec. They are the ka-gesh, a weapon that can destroy a whole universe. The series starts with Lord Loss, a demon who likes chess a lot. Lord Loss kills Grubbs’s family so Grubbs goes to live with his Uncle Dervish. There he meets Bill-e and he must battle Lord Loss using both magic and chess skill. The second book it is narrated by Kernel Fleck who has to travel to the demons realm to find his brother who has been kidnapped by Lord Loss. There he meets Beranabus, a wizard, who is trying to find the ka-gesh. This book is set 30 years before the first book. In the third book Grubbs goes to the set of the new film Slawter where he meets Lord Loss again. In the next book Bec is the narrator. She must stop the demons from taking over by finding the tunnel and closing it. The 5th book concentrates on how Grubbs is turning into a werewolf. The 6th book is when the demons are taking over and Grubbs, Beranabus and Kernel must destroy the demons and rescue Dervish and Bill-E before it’s too late. In book number 7 Bec is back and she must destroy a new demon called The Shadow. Book number 8 is Grubbs again, walking into a trap containing werewolves and demons. Number 9 is narrated by Kernel and he finds himself in the hands of an old creature that is depending on him..........
