| Elizabeth Buchan A step beyond traditional Chicklit, Elizabeth's Buchans' novels are mature, thoughtful and often take a Jane Austen-like peek at life. Elizabeth began as a blurb writer for Penguin books - a great place for an aspiring author to start if there ever was one. After a stint as fiction editor at Random House she left to write. Elizabeth's first two novels are historical pieces. Daughters of the Storm is set in the French Revolution and Light of the Moon in WW2. It's only in her third novel that we at Chicklit think that Elizabeth discovered her true talents. Consider The Lily explores someone who comes to terms with their unhappiness through gardening, and Perfect Love explores long term love and realtionships. Secrets of the Heart came next, followed by Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman, when Elizabeth hit the big-time, even seeing her book being made into a television film. The Second Wife is her latest, and it takes up with tale of The Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman, only this time following the viewpoint of the mistress turned wife, Minty. And it's one of our all-time faves here in the office! |
