The Letters

Violet is a divorced mother of four grown up children who decides, on a whim, to move to the coast to find herself. Settling in slowly, she suddenly starts receiving a series of mysterious letters from the past, sent from a mother and baby home in 1959. The letters, written by a young pregnant woman, keep pulling at her imagination - and why is someone sending them to her.

This is a delightfully sensuous read full of languorous descriptions and well drawn characters.

The Blue Handbag

Leonard is coming to terms with losing his wife, until, that is, he finds her old blue handbag. Once opened, it reveals a key to a mystery that Leonard just can't let alone. With a male protagonist in the shape of widower Leonard, this book is a surprising hit with us. It's quirky, endearing and although a gentle read, had enough depth to keep us glued to the end.

And once again, Robyn's use of language is beautiful.
