Now, it seems men are getting in on the act and in some cases, doing it better. Nick Hornby has had three of his novels (High Fidelity, About a Boy and Fever Pitch) made into successful movies, and writers like Hornby and Tony Parsons have become household names.

 Infidelity For First Time Fathers Stewart Dagman is getting to an age when all he wants to do is settle down and have kids. He finds out his fiancé is pregnant while in bed with his new girlfriend, and this is just where it starts to get complicated. He is forced to make series of tough decisions which most men would try and prevaricate about until the end of time rather than actually carry out. All the major relationships in his life are put through the wringer while he tries to keep his fiancé away from his girlfriend and he decides whether he should follow his head or his heart. Simon's opinion: It comes as no surprise to find out in the cover notes that Mark Barrowcliffe used to be a stand up comedian; I wish I had got to see him as his book is a good deal funnier than most stand up routines. On every page you will find a joke, witticism or wordplay covering a myriad of topics from why men gaze at women's breasts, or dealing with your parents and fundamentalist Christians.  I found myself laughing out loud at the jokes and cynical observations on the plight of the modern thirtysomething man. This allows me to overlook the unlikely plot developments and the rather annoying references to biscuits that pepper the book. I would thoroughly recommend the book as a string of jokes.
