Chick Lit > Literary Chicks :: Philippa Stockley

There are some writers who, at the same time as delivering a great story, do it using language so evocative, pure and sometimes even lyrical, that they are a true delight to read. These are our literary chicks.

A Factory of Cunning

It took a while for the penny to drop that this this a follow up to Dangerous Liaisons, but once we had cottoned on, it began to make much more sense. This book is a book is a book for all the senses - it describes London in 1784 and follows the fate of a mysterious Mrs Fox. Whilst it is very funny in places, it can also be very dark and the final climax left us with more questions than solutions - so much so that we're going to have to raed it all over again. But, at the same time very enjoyable. 6/10 |
