Dogs and Birds

Dogs and Birds is a new approach to teaching the piano or keyboard to four to seven year olds. It allows all children, even those too young to know the alphabet to approach the keyboard in a systematic and playful way. Note names are represented by monosyllabic animals, printed in the notes. Children sing these names as they play, thus developing their inner ear and deepening musicality.

Available resources include two beautifully illustrated keyboard tutor books, supplementary notes with CD (which explain everything necessary to allow parents to teach their children the material in book 1), and a set of wooden animals and large staves to help visualize the notes and make learning more enjoyable. A small three or four octave keyboard is all that is required to start. Visit www.dogsandbirds.co.uk for more details and online shop, or contact us at info@dogsandbirds.co.uk.

"A great pedagogical idea … definitely an important contribution in an area not over-endowed with good things" John York, Piano magazine.
