![]() Buy now by Uma Wylde This book takes you through a month of recipes designed for cooks of all levels - from the nervous novice to the accomplished pro. My first outing was the Mushroom and Herb Risotto and I admit to being slightly sceptical when I read the instructions - where was the wine? The end result, however, was lovely and creamy and even my husband, very much not a risotto fan, loved it. The leek and potato soup was also delicious - and it took half the time of Delia's version. Uma has also put in nice touches such as photos of the ingredients so that you can spot them on a supermarket shelf. It's downside - there are no desserts and as a non fish and seafood eater I did find it quite a fishy month! Finally, its spiral bound cover means that it's not quite gift material unless you know that person will value what's inside more than how it looks. That said, the wipe clean spiral cover is a great boon in the kitchen as the pages lie flat - something that can't be said for so many of the coffee table cookery books that are out nowadays. |
