![]() I've long been an admirer of Lynne Franks, right from when she used to work on the young women's magazine Petticoat. Like her, I went into PR, although, unlike Lynne, I haven't yet sold my PR business for a nice sum. But it's fair to say that she has been one of the business women that have kept me inspired over the years. So, when I got the chance to spend a day with Lynne at one of her Seed Experience days, I jumped at it. The blurb reads "The SEED Experience is a transformational day for all who attend, both personally and professionally, inviting you to see your vision, become aware of your values and your own barriers and create an action plan to attain the next stage in your growth." There were around twenty of us participants. We sat around Lynne in a semi circle and let everyone into our lives - not the "I'm Paula and run a PR company and I have three children" type of letting in, but a different, more back to basics letting in. "I am Paula and I am a mother, a dreamer, a dancer, a lover.." It was a long time since I had heard some of the things that I found myself saying and it was both refreshing and moving. The day continued in that vein - we danced, we did little sketches, we clutter cleared our lives and promised to take action. I have been on many workshops but strangely enough this was one that actually did have effects long after I left to catch my train. I found myself delivering on my promises the very next day, clearing both professional and personal clutter out of my life and making room for more success. Even now, a week later, I still feel the effects and I think I know the reason why. The Seed Experience is not just a one-off workshop designed to make money for the organisers. Indeed, it is part of an overall philosophy that wants women to come together collectively to support each other both personally and professionally, creating not only sustainable businesses but sustainable lives. Lynne's vision is to have Seed Circles throughout the country, something that she is working on right now. I know that we all say workshops are empowering but this one truly was. But not only that, it was fun, moving, friendly and a bloody good use of a wet windy Saturday in the capital. I thoroughly recommend it, not only to women starting or running a business, to also those in a time of transition, who would appreciate some space to think things through and find themselves again.
