| The British Second Wives Club |
Why did you start the British Second Wives club? When I met my partner in August 2001, he was already separated from his (ex-) wife and they had mutually agreed to Divorce. However after his ex-wife disappeared my partner was forced to instigate court action in an attempt to secure contact with his children. Every opportunity has been used to blacken his name and make him out to be a bad Father who doesn't care for his children and doesn't pay enough maintenance . The continuous stress of my partner's previous relationship started to directly affect me culminating in discovering my partner's ex-wife and her boyfriend snooping around our property and through solicitors, she was asking for information about my personal life including my income. By late 2004 I had supported my partner through many highly stressful court proceedings and comforting him after he received countless vile letters from Solicitors acting on behalf of their client. I realised my situation couldn't be unique so I searched the internet for support groups. There were a few USA sites but they didn't have any real experience of the stuffy British Legal system and it's processes. Following yet another stressful court appearance I didn't want to add to my partner’s worries by saying how fed up I was of the whole situation , so I created a club for women to come to so they could share the burden of being in love with a man who has an nightmarish ex-wife. I launched the British Second Wives Club (BSWC) on March 1st 2005, a support group for women, living with a man who has been married before. How does the club help other women? At the heart of the club is a secure, member’s only forum offering friendship, support, understanding and a shoulder to cry on. We have Regional meetings if you would like to meet up over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee . Our first annual meeting is in November where members and their partners can enjoy a weekend away in a country hotel. Who does the BSWC help ? The club helps women who are living with or married to a man who has been married before and helps members positively deal with the likes of - meddling ex-wives, problems with step children, setting boundaries, court orders, CAFCASS, CSA, Solicitors, Parental Alienation, Spousal maintenance and husbands who won't stand up to their controlling ex's. http://www.thebritishsecondwivesclub.co.uk ~ Support for second wives, partners & step mothers in Britain |
