| Connect with Kate Jacobs: Issue #11.5 WHAT'S NEW - The new paperback of Comfort Food becomes a bestseller - The wonderful CF tour continues - FNKC is the first Borders book club selection - Newsletter exclusive: There's a new book coming in the FNKC series! Comfort Food hits the NYT extended bestseller list Just wanted to send out a quick email to let you know some tremendously exciting news! Comfort Food -- a novel about food and family and defining your life as you want it to be -- debuted at #24 on the New York Times extended bestseller list after only one week on sale. Wow! Not to mention that I just learned today that Comfort Food is #8 on The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette (and FNKC is #7)! Thank you for your support and I look forward to talking with many of your book clubs about the new paperback in the coming months. Comfort Food is a delicious book for spring and summer, forward-looking and positive, and it has a strong mother-daughter element: It explores that moment when little girls have grown into women and mothers and daughters together must navigate their relationship in a new way now that all are adults. (Perfect for Mom's Day!) The first chapter is available on the Books page at my website. I like to think of Comfort Food as my romantic comedy -- a little romance, a lot about women and our friendships, a bit about the issues of the work-life juggle, and even a Bernie Madoff-style twist that gives a very contemporary feel. All set against the backdrop of a reality cooking show – and there are two new recipes from me in the paperback. Read Comfort Food in the park, the bath tub, the beach, the book club. And then have a cupcake! Traveling around So far the book tour has been a delight! In spite of the oodles of naughty calories I'm consuming on this cupcake tour. It's such fun when local bakeries co-sponsor events and we all get to taste sweet treats! And I especially love that I'm driving to a lot of the cities I'm visiting. (Well, actually my husband Jon is driving; I'm mostly on the phone talking to book clubs.) We're really enjoying getting out and seeing a bit of the country. Addresses and directions for all my events are available on the Events page at katejacobs.com. I've already enjoyed 16 book signings and still to come are the following stops: - Dallas, April 21: Barnes & Noble - Lincoln Park at 7:00pm - Edwards, CO, April 22: The Bookworm at 6:00pm - Albuquerque, April 23: Bookworks at 7:00pm - Santa Fe, April 24: Garcia St. Books at 5:00pm - Worcester, MA, April 27: Daybreak charity event at 5:30pm - Los Angeles, April 29: Words, Wit, Wisdom at 9:30am My biggest book club ever! It's wonderful: Borders is launching a new book club program designed for serious book readers. It's called the "Borders Book Club; Our Picks, Your Home" and it begins on April 23rd at 7pm local time with a discussion of The Friday Night Knitting Club in every Borders store! I taped a special welcome message (and I even answer some common questions about FNKC) as a way to greet everyone taking part. It's going to be good fun as Borders staff direct a discussion of the novel! Think of it as a giant, simultaneous book club meeting! Go to Borders.com to find a store near you and join in. BTW, I hear there are going to be goodies at many of the events! (This seems to be a theme with me this month...) And, yes, I am also scheduling personal book club call-ins for Comfort Food; just send an email via my website if you’d like me to telephone you and your friends. Exclusive: I'm writing a new book!!!!!!!! And it's a Knitting Club novel. Yes, I'm working on another adventure in the FNKC series. This latest story is called KNIT THE SEASON and it takes place a little over a year after the end of Knit Two. It's really a celebration with the characters as the story spans the holiday period from Thanksgiving to Hanukkah to Christmas to New Year's. Available on November 3, Knit the Season focuses on college-age Dakota and a holiday trip to see Gran in Scotland...and that's all I'm going to say. For now! Stay tuned to my website: I look forward to sharing more details and the new cover later in the year. With gratitude From the bottom of my heart: Thanks for reading and telling your friends and family about the FNKC series and Comfort Food, for posting those generous five-star reviews at Amazon, B&N, and Borders, and for coming to say hello at all of my book signings this month. Truly, sharing stories with readers like you is one of the great joys of my life. And I thank you. As always, feel welcome to forward this newsletter to anyone who might be interested, and I look forward to connecting with you soon -- whether it be at a signing, via email at kate@katejacobs.com, or on Twitter!
