Below is a review of ten of the best women’s money websites available, which should prove very useful in answering any of your financial uncertainties, giving you some valuable insight and perhaps even a laugh! 10. http://www.womenrepublic.co.uk/ At number ten is Women Republic. This is an e-zine style site covering many topics such as fashion, beauty, diet and house and home. It also has a careers section in which it discusses a wide variety of ways in which to manage money and get the best deals, such as choosing the right gas and electricity tariffs. They have a good search engine so if you need advice in a particular area then you can use it to hunt through the archives for you. 9. http://www.motheratwork.co.uk/ Mother At Work is another e-zine designed to give working mums information and advice about keeping a healthy balance between work and home life. There are articles on finance, business, childcare and useful interviews with other working mums. They also have a list of all the employers who have a balanced attitude towards work and home life and a section where you can put your concerns to an expert. All the articles are archived so if you are interested in a particular subject or have missed a week you can select another article from one of the archived folders. This is a really good site for news and updates on matters concerning money, and how those changes will affect you. This Is Money boasts their “specialist team of financial journalists work to ensure you are armed with the best tips and deals and to ensure that you're aware of all the latest scams and rip-offs.” The site has the look and feel of a professional broadsheet newspaper and the content reflects this. 7. http://www.netmums.com/ Founded in 2000, Netmums is the UK's fastest-growing online parenting organisation with over half a million members. It is a friendly looking site dedicated to giving mum’s support and inspiration and even has a forum, called the Coffee House, where mums can post their views, chat and ask questions about a variety of topics. Their work and money section has some good advice about how to cut costs and mums can even post their own money saving ideas. This is a great site for mums as there is a big focus on connecting with other parents in order to share ideas and access some really useful information. To get the best out of Netmums, including their exclusive offers, you will need to sign up but membership is free. 6. http://www.whataboutmoney.info What About Money? is a brilliant site for young people. It’s attractive in appearance, contains a lot of interactive content, such as videos of other young people’s experiences and a money calculator. It also covers a wide range of relevant issues, for example, buying a first time home, tackling student loans, having a baby and getting a job. It also has a news section for any money matters that are in the headlines and affecting young people today. What About Money? explains, “this site is aimed at 16-24 year olds, to help you better understand money issues. And is aimed at a much wider audience, therefore, covering other topics such as bringing up a family, dealing with debt, being a carer and managing in retirement. It is a very simple site to use and so will be completely accessible to the vast majority of internet users. There is a lot of information here but it is explained in a completely jargon-free way. 4. http://www.womenseverything.com The women’s online magazine, Womens Everything, is an exciting website for women. There are polls, competitions and all the topics you’d expect to find in a regular women’s magazine. It is a large site and so contains a lot of information presented in a way that women will find attractive. It also has one of the UK's largest web communities with lots of forums covering any topic you can think of. Journalist Martin Lewis has been running this site now for a number of years and contributes a blog, which is often amusing, as a lighthearted addition to the depth and detail that the rest of the site goes into. The site itself is very easy to navigate and looks exciting, inviting and amazingly free from advertising considering its size. It has its own shop where you can buy books that will help you with your finances, a blog written by the two founders, Candace Bahr and Ginita Wall, and a variety of quizzes to test the way that you handle your money. The site may not initially seem as exciting as Money Saving Expert but the content says otherwise and any women will learn a lot and laugh a lot whilst using this site.
