Susan Lewis started her TV career at HTV West in Bristol, as a copy taker in the News Room. From there she moved to Thames TV (aged 22) to work as a secretary on the current affairs programme, TV Eye. The last programme she worked on, as a production assistant/script supervisor, was the Bill. Susan tells us "The reason I left telly was because I lost an entire book on the computer (yes an ENTIRE book) and it had to be rewritten. (Book title: Stolen Beginnings - I had two books published while still working on The Bill, Stolen Beginnings was my third.) The catastrophe occurred back in the days of the very basic Amstrad computers - I'm now queen of the back ups! " Susan goes on to tell us more "It was heartbreak that finally prompted me into taking writing seriously - with so much time on my hands that needed to be filled, it became a support and ultimately great friend that I have come to cherish immensely over the years. (Not to say we don't have our difficult times, because we certainly do..) However, it is because of my writing that I have been able to live in the South of France, and now here in LA. Two wonderful experiences for very different reasons, but always with romance of one kind or another involved. I am considering returning to the UK for 2-3 years some time next summer. It feels necessary to reconnect with my readers after 10 years of being out of the loop, and it's rather pleasing to think of my own country being the setting for a next real life adventure. The salacious news is brought to his wife Beth not by him, but by Laurie Forbes, a young journalist. As the mystery of her husband’s predicament unfolds, both women face terrifying questions Readers' comments: If you like chicklit with a bit more plot and suspense then Susan Lewis is the author. This is packed with false leads, hidden secrets and revelations. Ooh, a killer of an ending too! 7.5/10 Chicklit talks to Susan Lewis... So, where do you get your ideas? Life, events, conversations, experiences, books, films, TV. Just about everywhere. How did you go about finding an agent/publisher? A friend recommended an agent whom I approached and was taken on. The Writer's Handbook is a very useful source. Do you have a writing routine? From around 10 in the morning until 6 or 7 in the evening six or seven days a week, from September - March. Any advice on going for the long haul and completing a novel when it feels like it's never going to end? If it's starting to feel like that, then I usually find it's time for a break. So I step back for a few days, recharge, then generally it all starts to flow again. Any other advice - or warnings?! Not really. Everyone's experience is going to be different, so if someone feels an overwhelming urge to write, they should just go ahead and do it. It will become evident quite early on whether or not it's what they really want to do, or whether it's just a fantasy of a quick and easy way to make money! (It isn't, and anyway, the money's not that good!) Reviews Recently we have been reviewing and changing our review process.
